Marina Antunes [Celluloid 01.07.16] scifi thriller

We're only a few days into 2016 and the year is already looking pretty great for "original" sci-fi. Original in quotes because some of these ideas aren't really new but it's nice to see projects that aren't based on already existing properties.

Synchronicity (trailer, review) made our list of favourite titles of 2015 and most folks will have a chance to see it later this month (it opens January 22nd), then there's Morten Tyldum's Passengers starring the powerhouse duo of Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt, there's Jeff Nichols' Midnight Special (trailer) and Drake Doremus's Equals just to name a few but before all of those come out, you'll be able to check out Marc Furmie's Terminus.

Also scheduled for release on January 22, Terminus is getting a theatrical and VOD release and looks like it would make a fantastic double bill with Synchronicity: a night of smart sci-fi.

Furmie's movie is a tale of a man who comes in contact with an extra-terrestrial organism and becomes convinced that he has to save humanity. The movie stars Jai Koutrae, Kendra Appleton, Bren Foster and Todd Lasance.
