Christopher Webster [Celluloid 01.06.16] scifi

In the market for some enigmatic and head-scratching sci-fi? Here's a short from director Simon Brown that should satisfy. It's called simply Traveler, and concerns an experimental craft that yeilds unexpected and potentially earth shattering results.

Brown has worked as a senior vfx artist on feature film including MATRIX REVOLUTIONS, STAR WARS: REVENGE OF THE SITH and ICE AGE: THE MELTDOWN.

Traveler was recently released oline after playing at fests including the LA Shorts Fest, Sci-Fi London Film Festival, Fargo Fantastic Festival, Action on Film Festival, Other Worlds Austin FF, and others.

As with most shorts, Traveler is designed as a calling card to elicit interest in a feature project of the same name. Below you'll find the long description of what that project could look
like.

Long Description:
When a group of friends discover a secret code on the dark-web, they build a jet-powered craft to attempt jumping to the far side of our galaxy. But when they succeed, they unwittingly open up earth to the ‘aware’ - civilizations who are advanced enough to ‘jump’ through space.

Earth sits at a crucial way-point in the universe and has been targeted for illegal colonization. Only our adventurers can stop this - if they prove to the galactic council how nefarious the security chief's plans are. Such a quest will take them to the far edges of the galaxies and the far-flung worlds there.

The cast includes Justin Hanlon, Tara Moore, Christi Waldon, Kyle Soehngen.
