Christopher Webster [Celluloid 01.20.16] action thriller adventure comic

It takes a lot to get me interested in a comic book movie, but Suicide Squad has my attention. Director David Ayer has made a name for himself with gritty urban thrillers and that WWII tank movie, but here his approach shines, bringing a harder-edged, real-world DC world to life that stands in direct contrast to Marvel's squeaky clean and accessible persona. Warner Brothers may not sell as many toys and Halloween costumes as Disney at the end of the day, but they have my money.

The trailer, which features Queen’s epic “Bohemian Rhapsody” is really well edited, concluding with iconic line, "nothing really matters to me" and the tagline “Worst. Heroes. Ever." Gotta love that.

Synopsis:
A secret government agency recruits imprisoned super-villains to execute dangerous black ops missions in exchange for clemency.

Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn is clearly the film's center piece which was a great move. We've had a lot of Joker in the past, though I expect we'll get much more Joker as the film nears its; August release date.

The cast also includes Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, Jai Courtney as Boomerang, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Killer Croc, Adam Beach as Slipknot, Karen Fukuhara as Katana, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag and Jay Hernandez as Diablo.

Recommended Release: Suicide Squad Vol. 1

I've never been a Harley Quinn fan. I might just be a convert.

I was looking forward to this film but that was a really bad trailer... I'll probably watch it anyway but at least my expectations aren't high anymore
