James Cameron surprised CinemaCon audience by announcing 4 Avatar sequels, targeting 2018, 2020, 2022 and 2023

At 20th Century Fox’s CinemaCon presentation Thursday, director James Cameron took the stage and annoucned that his vision for the Avatar franchise has grown by leaps and bounds and will end up as a five movie series.

“We’ve begun to bump up against the limitations of our art form,”
said Cameron. “There’s just too much story.”

Cameron also promises that each Avatar film will stand alone as a movies while also linking the entire saga.

There's a ton of people moaning about Cameron devoting so much creative energy to Avatar, but this is totally in keeping with his career so far. I think he sees the world of Avatar as his personal and perfect sandbox to tell every story possible as well as push the technology of cinema forward to new places.

So, yeah, I'm intrigued. Bring on Avatars.

Makes a lot of sense. Cameron is a true believer in preserving this Earth , it's Rain Forests, and Eco systems.
The Movies are far more then entertainment. Cameron will say what needs to be said through Cinema.
