Christopher Webster [Celluloid 05.11.16] scifi horror thriller

Written by Russell Owen and Chris Reading, Somnus is an upcoming sci-fi thriller that explodes with impressive, old school practical visual effects. How did this film that looks like a cross between Interstellar and Event Horizon slip through our fingertips until now? Who cares, we found it!

Epic Pictures Group (Turbo Kid, Tales of Halloween) has acquired the worldwide sales and distribution rights to Somnus with a plan to release it this year as a multi-platform release (what else?).

Synopsis:
SOMNUS follows the crew of an aging cargo ship on their final mission working the monotonous Earth-Mars shipping route.

Malfunctions aboard the ship force a change off course to Somnus, a remote asteroid colony. The crew members soon discover the inhabitants of the colony have a dark past and troubling plans for the future of mankind.

Somnus stars Marcus McMahon (Plastic Toys), Tom Bonington (ABCs of Death 2) and Klemens Koehring (Brothers of War).

Recommended Release: Cargo

I admit I did a double take at that moment too. Reminds me of Carpenter's Dark Star in a way.

I posted on this one a week ago. I will give it a watch, when it comes out.

The blend of horror and sci-fi is like peanut butter and chocolate for me. I like it - a lot.
