Christopher Webster [Celluloid 07.06.16] post apocalyptic action thriller adventure



With a great cast in , Rhys Ifans, Sofia Boutella and Ed Skrein Gateway 6 sounds like it could be a pretty cool sci-fi PA thriller.

The film was penned by Malachi Smyth who wrote the UK cyber horror flick Ghost Machine and is being directed by Tanel Toom.

Producers are Ben Pullen of Sentinel Entertainment and Matthew James Wilkinson (The Call Up) for Stigma Films with Pippa Cross (Bloody Sunday) serving as executive producer.


Long Synopsis:
Earth in the not too distant future...The Global population has risen to unsustainable levels as the demand for resources reaches a critical level. Desperate attempts to mine untapped Antarctic resources deep below the continent’s surface using nuclear excavation technology causes a cataclysmic shift in the Earth’s axis. The moon is thrown into an unstable parabolic orbit. Life on Earth changes irreversibly.

Overwhelming tides and floods sweep the Earth, obliterating all human civilization barring two decimated continents. Billions die during the mass migration to higher land. 100 years on, and the South continent is still locked in a war over land and resources with the North. Only the vast ocean and the all-consuming tides protect one from the other.

Between the continents, one lone station stands guard – Gateway 6.
Four soldiers are stationed in this remote military outpost, surrounded by an endless ocean thousands of miles from home. They are the last bastion, defending their homeland from an invasion by an enemy they have never seen, monitoring for signs of attack and prepared to sacrifice themselves by detonating their nuclear device should an enemy fleet appear.

But their tour of duty ended 3 months ago. The relief crew still hasn’t shown up. Alone and uncertain as to what fate awaits them, the simmering tension amongst the crew only escalates when a mysterious boat drifts into range – is it the help they have been waiting so long for, or something far more sinister?


Gateway 6 is currently in pre-production. Altitude Film Sales is handling international sales on the film, which is due to shoot this year in Estonia.
