Christopher Webster [Celluloid 03.07.17] Canada horror

I had the opportunity to see the The Void early (watch for a full review from Jason later this month) and I can attest to the film's strengths as a psychotropic, Lovecraftian horror film up there with From Beyond or Beyond the Black Rainbow. Canada's Jeremy Gillespie & Steven Kostanski (part of the Astron-6 team) continue to impress.

The Void hits US Theaters & VOD on April 7, 2017 from Screen Media Films.

When police officer Carter (Aaron Poole) discovers a blood-soaked man limping down a deserted road, he rushes him to a local hospital with a bare bones, night shift staff. As cloaked, cult-like figures surround the building, the patients and staff inside start to turn ravenously insane. Trying to protect the survivors, Carter leads them into the depths of the hospital where they discover a gateway to immense evil.

The Void stars Aaron Poole, Kathleen Munroe, Ellen Wong, Kenneth Welsh, Evan Stern, Daniel Fathers & Grace Munro.

Recommended Release: The Mist

Uh oh. I've been looking forward to this for a while now. I love From Beyond but despise BtBR. Worried a little now.

Don't worry! It's much more like From Beyond. Straight up monsters from another dimension flick with a wild cult slant.

Only the slightest hint of BTBR.

awesome! Sounds good. I wanted to like BtBR so hopefully what I thought would work there (but ultimately didn't) will be what works here for me.

"Beyond the Black Rainbow" is one of the most pathetic films in the last couple decades. A film that apes the poor quality of C movies and completely cops out from even its modest pretext in the end.

So this film is almost as good? Wow.
