"Superheroes" and "Cannes" aren't exactly two words one would expect to see together but that's exactly the case with Kornel Mundruczo's new movie Jupiter's Moon.

The director of White God returns to the festival with an unlikely tale which is part immigrant story and part superhero movie about a young man named Aryan. He is shot while attempting to cross the border and is taken to a refugee camp where a doctor discovers that he has somehow managed to heal himself and more than that, he begins to develop powers.

With a help of a camp doctor who wants to study him, Aryan manages to escape only to find himself in even more trouble: searching for his father while being chased by authorities.

Mundruczo has shown immense talent in building great genre stories and Jupiter's Moon certainly looks like an interesting new challenge. The first trailer suggests a great mix of gritty realism with subtle visual effects.

Jupiter's Moon will have its world premiere at the festival when it screens in Competition on May 19.
