Marina Antunes [Celluloid 07.18.17] horror

I'm not sure which of these surprise me most: the fact that they're making a Texas Chainsaw Massacre prequel, the fact that prequel is directed by Inside directors Alexandre Bustillo and Julien Maury or the fact that Stephen Dorff is still getting acting work.

Leatherface turns back the clock to a teenager who escapes the asylum with three other inmates. The group kidnaps a nurse and take her on a "road trip from hell."

Along the way, they are pursued by an equally deranged lawman out for revenge, one of these teens is destined for tragedy and horrors that will destroy his mind, molding him into the monster we now call Leatherface.

The first trailer for Leatherface is about as inspired as any of the other plethora of horror movies that come out every year which is to say... boring. However, the red band trailer does offer up some pretty brutal moments and I'm definitely curious to see what Bustillo and Maury have in store for us.

Leatherface opens October 20.
