A decade ago, Johnny Kevorkian's impressed us with the release of his feature film debut The Disappeared (review) and now the director has returned with another frightening vision: Await Further Instructions.

The horror unfolds over the Christmas holidays when Nick (Sam Gittins) returns home for the holidays with his new girlfriend Annji (Neerja Naik) in tow. She's excited to meet the rest of the Milgram clan but they're not so keen on her.

The tension gets serious when, on Christmas Day, the family wakes to find themselves trapped in the house with their only outside contact being the instructions being dolled out on their TV. Needless to say, things quickly get out of hand.

Await Further Instructions also stars David Bradley, Abigail Cruttenden, Holly Weston and Grant Masters.

I find the premise here to be rather brilliant. Screenwriter Gavin Williams has managed to lock an unhappy family together in such a way that you're dealing with both tense family dynamics and an external force which is causing even more havoc.

It'll be interesting to see if he and Kevorkian stick the landing but the trailer and the general response from the movie's festival run earlier this year certainly suggests as much.

Await Further Instructions opens October 6.

Watched this the other night. Was rather let down by the story. Not sure what the point of the movie was to be honest.

Well, six months later... it arrived on Netflix. So I watched it.

's'ok ... Worth a view if you have nothing brilliant lined up on your must watch list.
