John Connor [Celluloid 02.20.20] scifi cult drama

Before directing Donnie Darko and The Box, Richard Kelly directed The Goodbye Place, a stylish student film while attending USC film school.

Despite being filmed in black and white, the film plays like a modern Twilight Zone episode and shows the panache that Kelly would bring to his future feature films.

Now, if only Kelly would release his teleportation student film Visceral Matter, we'd be happy.

Kelly's post-Donnie Darko output has given me zero motivation to explore his pre-Donnie Darko work.
