Mission:Erebus Final Installment

Postby iamdavidbyrne » Thu Dec 18, 2008 9:42 am

So this is a really long installment, but with the holidays quickly approaching I thought some people might have some free time for some extra reading. I will be traveling a little bit, so here is the remainder of the script. This is also when the action really starts picking up, so once again I felt it was better to give it as a whole then breaking it up. Enjoy, and I appreciate any comments you have about the script.

EXT. EREBUS - DAY

Daniels, Beatrice, Jay, Cho, and Gayle form a line across the
ramp and walk down to the surface.

They are followed by the Cats and then the trucks.

Daniels leads his crew onto the surface. Bodies blanket the
ground.

The whole planet is eerily silent except for the winds that
blow through the fiery landscape.

Daniels looks like the sight doesn't even phase him. The
rest of the crew can't help but stare.

BEATRICE
(mortified)
What the hell happened here, Adlei?

Daniels stops and looks back at the crew.

DANIELS
I know the images are disturbing,
but the faster we can get this
done, the faster we can get off
this god forsaken planet.

Gayle bends down and turns one of the soldiers over. She
gasps at the soldier's horrific face. It looks like it had
almost been burned off. His upper lip had been ripped off up
till his cheek.

She bends back down and looks at his face and skin and the
looks deep into his eyes.

As she looks deep into his eyes, the soldiers body twitches
violently for a second almost in a seizure like manner.

Gayle screams and jumps back. The body stops twitching.

Jay pulls out a gun.

JAY
Gayle, get out of the way. Let me
kill it.

Gayle puts her hand up towards Jay.

GAYLE
You can't kill it. He's already
dead. After death the body
continues to undergo a series of
muscle twitches and spasms for
quite some time.

Jay puts his gun down.

JAY
You could have still let me shoot
it.

Gayle ignores what Jay has to say, and she directs her
attention to Daniels.

GAYLE
Captain, it looks like these men
were killed by a radiation blast of
some sort.

JAY
What do you was strong enough to
kill them all? It couldn't have
been a bomb.

Nobody says anything.

JAY (cont'd)
Come on... it couldn't have been a
bomb, right. There is nothing that
powerful.

DANIELS
With Erickson at the command there
is nothing I can't imagine.

He bends down and studies the ground and picks up a handful
of sand. He stands back up and lets go of the sand and lets
the wind carry it.

DANIELS (cont'd)
From the looks of it. It looks
like whatever killed these men came
from that direction.

He points off towards the west.

DANIELS (cont'd)
We will start centralizing the
bodies and we will make our way in
that direction. Let's work hard
and we'll all meet back here after
sundown.

Daniels motions for Jay to help him. Jay comes by Daniels
who has bent down and grabbed the hands of the dead soldier
who scared Gayle. Jay grabs his feet.

They heave the body back and worth.

DANIELS (cont'd)
1...2...3...

They throw the body into the back of Lanet's truck.

DANIELS (cont'd)
One down. Let's move.

With that everyone stars moving. The two trucks drive off in
opposite directions and each Cat follows one of the trucks.

The ground crew starts grabbing bodies and throwing them into
a pile.

MONTAGE

The ground crew drags dead bodies and puts them in piles.

The Cat crew picks up the dead bodies and haul them over to
the trucks, and dump them into the truck beds.

The trucks drive back and forth from the ship.

The trucks drive up the loading ramp and place the dead
bodies into the cargo holding areas.

Atmospheric shots of the planet and it's surrounding fire.

The crew works their way to the blast site.

EXT. BLAST SITE - DAY

The sun is quickly fading in the sky. The entire crew has
worked their way to the blast site.

Everyone gets out of the trucks and Cats, and the they line
up against the enormous crate and peer at its size.

BEATRICE
I still don't understand what could
have caused this.

SAWYER
I've never heard of anything this
strong.

DANIELS
I know the military has been
working on a super bomb on some
sorts.

BEATRICE
Well if it was our military... that
means we killed our own men. Who
is sadistic enough to kill their
own men?

LANET
I know one person.

TANK
Yeah.

BEATRICE
Who?

DANIELS
(angered)
General Erickson.

Daniels turns around and starts walking back towards the
ship.

DANIELS (cont'd)
Everybody grab the last of the
bodies, and make sure you're back
before nightfall.

The crew stars once again collecting the last few surrounding
bodies, and throwing them on the trucks.

Gayle looks over and see a lone body about fifty yards away.
It twitches and then it's chest seems to start moving.

She walks over towards the body. It has been badly damaged
by the radiation.

She bends down and feels his neck for a pulse.

GAYLE
This one's alive!

Daniels stops and quickly looks back. The rest of the crew
makes their way over to help Gayle.

Gayle tries to make the soldier more comfortable and lays him
out.

GAYLE (cont'd)
Get one of the truck's over here.

Tank runs and jumps into one of the trucks and drives towards
Gayle.

Daniels continues to intently monitor the situation from
where he stands.

Tank arrives with the truck. Richard and Sawyer pick up the
body and help load it into the cab of the truck.

Gayle jumps into the truck with Tank.

GAYLE (cont'd)
Let's go.

Tank floors it and the trucks speeds off passing closely by
the watchful Daniels, kicking up dust around him.

The rest of the crew piles into the other truck or hang onto
one of the two Cats.

The truck passes Daniels, and Sawyer leans out the window.

SAWYER
Coming aboard, Captain?

Daniels motions for them to go ahead.

SAWYER (cont'd)
You sure.

He motions again, and the truck and Cats pass him by.

Daniels walks alone against the setting sun as the winds pick
up.

INT. AENEID - NIGHT

Tank and Sawyer are pulling the last set of bodies off the
truck and then passing them off to Jay and Lanet who then
carry the bodies into the cargo area.

When they walk into the cargo area, it is entirely full of
dead bodies. They stop and look around where to put the
body. The area is full of bodies.

They walk to another cargo area and it's halfway full of
bodies, and they throw the body onto the top of the pile.

All in all it looks as if they had collected close to five
thousand bodies. Jay and Lanet walk back to the main loading
station.

JAY
That's the last of them.

Captain Daniels marches up the ramp back into the loading
dock of the ship.

Upon entering the ship, he reaches over and raises the lever
to raise the ramp.

It raises slowly up and once it reaches the ship, the air
pressurizes and the mechanical elements lock with a metallic,
echoing thud.

Daniels sees Tank putting up the truck.

DANIELS
Have all the bodies been unloaded.

TANK
Yes, sir.

DANIELS
Good. Let's lock down the cargo.

TANK
You want a full lock down?

DANIELS
Yes, a full lock down.

TANK
Yes, sir.

DANIELS
Did Gayle make it okay to medical.

TANK
Yeah, we rushed her over here as
fast as possible.

DANIELS
I'll be in medical if you need me.

Daniels starts walking towards the medical ward.

TANK
(to Richard)
All right, we've got a full lock
down in the cargo.

RICHARD
Full lock down... What, Daniels,
you afraid of a few dead bodies.

Daniels stops for a moment, but keeps walking.

TANK
It's Captain's orders.

Daniels walks through the sliding doors.

INT. MEDICAL WARD - NIGHT

Daniels walks into the medical ward on the ship.

It is medium size room. There are four empty hospital beds.
On the fifth bed lies the wounded soldier, and Gayle is
standing by his side working diligently to keep the soldier
alive.

Gayle notices him walk in and stops working. She stands next
to the soldier.

GAYLE
I've done all I can for him now.
His body seems to be fighting.

DANIELS
Fighting against what?

GAYLE
I don't know. Something... I'm
going to stay with him till he
stabilizes.

DANIELS
Can I get you anything from the
mess hall.

GAYLE
No. I think I'll be fine.

DANIELS
Okay. Keep me up to date on his
status.

GAYLE
Yes, sir.

The soldier's body twitches. Gayle tries to calm the body
down. Daniels just stares at the body quietly. The body
calms down and stops twitching.

GAYLE (cont'd)
Like I said, he keeps fighting.

He continues to stare.

DANIELS
Promise me this... keeping looking
after him, but if whatever he's
fighting starts fighting back...
Just let him go.

Gayle is not sure of his statement.

GAYLE
(unsure)
Yes, sire.

INT. MESS HALL - NIGHT

Daniels walks into the mess hall. All of the crew is around
the table and most everyone has an alcoholic drink. Everyone
is trying to relax.

Sawyer and Jay have their feet propped up on an empty chair.
They each have bowls of some sort of a rice dish, and spoon
the mixture into their mouths as they laugh with the rest of
the crew.

Daniels walks into the room and looks for a place to sit.

Sawyer props himself up.

SAWYER
Here's a chair, Captain.

Daniels nods, and he makes his way to the table and sits down
pulling himself up to the table.

SAWYER (cont'd)
Good to have you with us.

Cho comes out with five more bowls of the rice mixture. He
puts them down on the table and everyone reaches for a bowl.

Sawyer finishes his bowl as everyone else starts eating their
bowls.

SAWYER (cont'd)
Well... I don't think we all have
actually had the chance to say what
we plan on doing once we make it
back to Earth.

LANET
Whose turn is it?

SAWYER
(looking around)
I actually think it's me... Let's
see... the first thing I'm going to
do when I get back home is... I
think I'm going to start a chain of
restaurants called Cho's diner just
so everybody on Earth can know just
how bad this **** is.

Cho looks up and picks up a butcher knife and points it at
Sawyer.

SAWYER (cont'd)
(laughing)
Hey man, you know I'm just kidding.

Cho cracks a small smile and puts the knife back down.

SAWYER (cont'd)
But me, I'll probably just head
back to the farm and just spend my
days cutting grass and fattening up
the pigs.

JAY
I didn't even know people raised
pigs anymore.

SAWYER
Very funny... well, smart ass what
do you plan on doing when you get
back to Earth.

JAY
I plan on heading down to Iceland
for the Cou'de Gra.

SAWYER
What the hell is the a Cou'de Gra?

The crew laughs.

JAY
The Cou'de Gra is the largest
outdoor music festival. There are
bands from all the world.

DANIELS
Sounds like a fine way to spend
your time on Earth.

JAY
I can't get you tickets if you want
to go, Captain.

DANIELS
No thanks. I think I'll be fine.

LANET
Well, what do you plan on doing,
Captain.

DANIELS
I think I'll rent a boat and take
Adian fishing. Get some sun and
take a moment to enjoy life.

RICHARD
You do too much of that and you're
not going to want to come back to
the ship.

Daniels takes a sip of his drink.

DANIELS
That's why I don't plan on coming
back.

The crew stops and looks quietly around.

LANET
You're kidding, right.

DANIELS
At the end of the mission and our
good faith mission with X, I will
be giving up my duties as Captain
of the Aeneid.

JAY
What will happen to us?

DANIELS
You will all be assigned a new
captain aboard the Aeneid.

The crew sits quietly for a moment. Their expressions are
empty.

SAWYER
Hell... Then tonight, we'll drink
to the finest captain in this whole
universe.

LANET
I'll drink to that.

Sawyer pours himself a drink and raises it up.

SAWYER
To Captain Daniels, a tough noised
son of a bitch, but one hell of a
captain.

He raises his glass higher and then pours back his drink in
record speed, and he then slams his glass down hard.

The rest of the crew finishes their drinks. Even Cho pours
himself a small shot glass and drinks it down.

SAWYER (cont'd)
You know who should be here...
Gayle.

DANIELS
She is down in medical with that
soldier.

SAWYER
I'll go down and get her.

Sawyer gets up from the table and heads out.

INT. AENEID - NIGHT

Sawyer walks through the halls of the Aeneid.

INT. MEDICAL WARD - NIGHT

Sawyer walks into the medical ward.

Gayle is sitting by the soldier's bed. She has her head
hanging low. Sawyer makes his way over to her; it is easy to
see that she is emotionally distraught.

SAWYER
(sympathetic)
You alright there, gal.

Gayle looks up and tries to manage a fake smile.

GAYLE
We lost him about 10 minutes ago.

SAWYER
I'm sorry.

Sawyer walks over to her and Gayle stands up. He gives her a
hug.

SAWYER (cont'd)
You should come up to the kitchen.
We're all having a good time.

GAYLE
Not tonight, Sawyer.

SAWYER
You sure.

GAYLE
Yeah, I'm going to wrap up things
here, and then head to bed.

SAWYER
You just let me know if there is
anything I can do to help.

GAYLE
Thanks.

Gayle goes back to tending to the soldier. She slowly starts
unhooking the wires that were connected to his body.

Sawyer starts walking away. He stops just before getting to
the door and turns around.

SAWYER
If you change your mind, you know
where to find us.

Gayle looks up and gives her first real smile.

With unexpected fervor and intensity, the dead soldier's hand
lunges out with pure precision as it grips her neck.

She tries to scream, but her screams are only muffled. She
resorts to kicking and flaying her arms.

The dead soldier's body sits up right and lunges at her.

Sawyer races over to help her as the body starts attacking
her.

He starts hitting the soldier, but it is of no use. The once
lifeless soldier is now overcome with a brutal raw rage of
force hell bent on killing.

The soldier paws back at Sawyer knocking him down to the
ground.

Gayle's body gives way, and her limbs go lifeless. The
soldier lets Gayle's body fall to the ground. It looks
viciously at Sawyer and starts heading for him.

Sawyer pulls out his gun and shoots the soldier in the chest,
but it just keeps coming towards him. Sawyer shoots another
time, but still cannot stop it. He finally unloads the
remaining bullets in his clip. The noise is almost deafening

The soldier stops for a split second before moving again.
Sawyer picks up a chair and slams it across the soldier's
face. The force of the hit only merely stuns the soldier,
but it provides just enough time for Sawyer to run for the
door.

Sawyer manages to make it to the door and get it closed just
as the soldier lunges at him.

INT. AENEID - NIGHT

Sawyer falls down on the ground as the soldier thrusts
himself against the door. It continues to pound at the door.

Sawyer reaches up and pulls an emergency lever that locks the
door. A red blinking light goes off above his head to alert
the emergency.

At this point, the rest of the entire crew is running through
the corridors to check on the gunfire they just heard.

Richard is the first to reach Sawyer.

RICHARD
What's going on?

Sawyer is just sitting there with a far off look. He is
breathing deeply and shaking his head.

SAWYER
He just kept coming.

The rest of the crew makes it's way to them.

RICHARD
Who kept coming.

SAWYER
The soldier.

RICHARD
The soldier? Where's Gayle.

The soldier on the other side of the door keeps pounding at
the door.

RICHARD (cont'd)
Gayle, is that you. Gayle.

There is no response, but more pounding.

Richard grabs Sawyer by the shirt and shakes him.

RICHARD (cont'd)
Where's Gayle?

Sawyer snaps out of it, but still shaken.

SAWYER
She's dead.

RICHARD
Get out of the way.

Richard shoves Sawyer from off the door, and he goes to
release the emergency lock.

DANIELS
Hold on.

Richard stops and looks at Daniels.

RICHARD
Come on, Daniels. Sawyer's talking
crazy. We've got to check on
Gayle.

DANIELS
You will not open the door.

Daniels bends down to talk to Sawyer.

DANIELS (cont'd)
Hey, man. Can I ask a couple of
questions.

Sawyer just sits there. The pounding continues

DANIELS (cont'd)
Who fired the shots.

SAWYER
I fired all the shots.

DANIELS
What did you shoot?

SAWYER
I shot the soldier. Gayle said he
died on the table, but he came back
and attacked Gayle and me. He
killed Gayle.

RICHARD
Daniels, I told you, he's talking
nonsense. Let me into the room.

Richard reaches for the lock. Daniels grabs his hand.

DANIELS
I told you no one is going in.

Richard rears back and punches Daniels in the face catching
him off guard and sends him to the ground.

RICHARD
I don't take orders from the
criminally insane. Hold on Gayle!

Richard pulls up the lever unlocking the door. Richard
centers himself up to the door and slides it open.

As soon as the door opens, the dead soldier lunges out of the
medical ward at Richard. The force of the blow knocks him to
the ground with the soldier landing on top ready to attack at
any second with Gayle's blood still dripping from his face.

Daniels pushes himself up off the ground and tackles the
soldier.
Before they can hit the ground, Daniels has his gun drawn and
puts it point blank to the back of the soldier's head and
unloads his clip into the back of it's head destroying every
remaining inch of flesh and bone the there is nothing left
that once resembled a human head.

The soldiers body falls to the ground, but it continues to
wither and claw at the ground in a blind attack.

The crew looks on in horror.

Daniels looks over to Richard still on the ground. His face
is blank.

Daniels picks himself up, and reaches his hand over to help
up Richard.

He pulls up Richards and helps stand him up.

Richards gets his bearings, and then Daniels rears back and
punches Richards as hard as he can sending him back to the
ground.

DANIELS
From this moment on if you all want
to live no one better dare disobey
me. Is that understood?

Nobody says anything. They all look at the dead soldier who
without any head still tries to reluctantly move and attack
anything within it's grasp.

LANET
Daniels, how is that thing still
moving?

DANIELS
That thing is not dead.

BEATRICE
That's not possible.

DANIELS
This is not a time to get into an
argument of what's possible and not
possible. We need to all move tot
he navigational deck now.

Daniel's starts running quickly. Sawyer and Richard are the
first to follow just as quickly as Daniels.

The remaining crew members stand and continue to look on to
the body which still withers and tries to pull itself up, but
falls but not before he can lay his crippled hand on Jay's
foot.

Jay kicks the hand away as they all look at each other and
then bolt after the other crew members towards the
navigational deck.

They run with great fervor their breathes heaving deeply as
each footsteps rattles the metal grates below their feet.

They make it to the navigational deck as the doors slide
open.

INT. NAVAGATIONAL DECK - NIGHT

They all make it into the navagational deck, and as the doors
slide shut, Daniels is there to quickly pull the locks on the
door.

Everybody begins to try and catch their breaths, and move to
the center of the room.

Richard leans up against a wall and rubs his chin where he
got punched.

JAY
Does anyone care to tell me what
the hell is going on?

DANIELS
As long as we are in here, we
should be safe.

BEATRICE
How are the only one has any idea
as to what's going on.

Daniels grows quiet for a moment.

DANIELS
Cause this has all happened before.

JAY
I don't think anything like this
has ever happened before.

DANIELS
This happened fifteen years ago.

SAWYER
What does fifteen years ago have to
do with Gayle dying today.

DANIELS
It has everything to do with Gayle
dying. The soldier that killed
Gayle was dead.

BEATRICE
A dead soldier just doesn't get up
off his hospital bed and start
attacking people.

DANIELS
I was one of the two member sent on
the first exploration missions to
Erebus, fifteen years ago. We
dropped from our host plane with
glider packs. Something happened
to Roger's pack and it would not
work. He dies that night. When I
woke up in the morning, he had been
dead for over 6 hours, but he came
back to life.

Richard come forward from the back corner.

RICHARD
And, that's when you killed your
partner.

DANIELS
I didn't kill my partner. Roger
was already dead. Listen, I don't
know how, and I don't know why, but
he came back to life... except he
wasn't alive. It was like he was
still dead, but... those eyes, his
eyes. I remember his eyes; they
changed. There was something evil
behind those eyes.

TANK
So that solider just now was... the
walking dead.

DANIELS
Yes.

JAY
Well, I don't mean to point out the
obvious, but if that soldier came
back to life what's stopping the
other... Oh, I don't know... the
other thousand or so soldiers we
picked up today sitting on the back
of our ship from coming back to
life.

DANIELS
There is nothing to say that they
can come back to life. I don't
know if anything will happen to
them.

Just then a bone curling scream of a hundred tortured souls
comes from deep within the bowels of the ship.

Everyone grows silent as the screams grow in number and
strength.

DANIELS (cont'd)
Okay, there's nothing to fear. We
have a full lock down on the cargo.

Richard's face turns nervous.

DANIELS (cont'd)
Nothing will be able to escape.
Correct, Richard?

Richard does not say anything.

DANIELS (cont'd)
Richard, please tell me that we
have a full lock down on the cargo.

RICHARD
There isn't a full lock down.

DANIELS
What?! I ordered a full lock down.

Daniels moves closer to Richard.

DANIELS (cont'd)
Why did you disobey my order?

Richards stands up to him.

RICHARD
(intense)
How the hell was I suppose to know
that our dead fucking cargo was
going to come back to like to kill
us!

DANIELS
(not backing down)
Why did you disobey my order?!

RICHARD
(increasing argument)
Why did you bring us to this god
forsaken planet if you knew this?!
Why would you endanger the lives of
your crew?! It's true... you
really are fucking crazy!

Daniels snaps and lunges out towards Richard. He takes down
to the ground and starts trying to choke him.

DANIELS
I am going to finish what that
soldier should have done.

He starts choking him harder. The whole crew runs up and
tries to pull Daniel's off of Richard.

BEATRICE
Stop. Everybody just stop!

Tank is able to pull Daniels off. He and Richard try and
catch breaths.

The scream's from inside the ship grow to an almost deafening
pitch.

BEATRICE (cont'd)
Now is not the time to turn on each
other! We've got to figure out how
to save ourselves!

Then all of a sudden the screams grow silent, only the heavy
breathing of the crew can be heard. Then out of the thick
silence comes the loud sound of sheet metal and chains
rattling.

DANIELS
It's too late. They are on the
loose now.

The feverish screams continue again, but their are now
accompanied by the rattle of the metal walkways in the inside
corridors.

The crew doesn't even make a sound as the noise grows closer.
There quietness is quickly broken when they reach the door to
the navagational deck. It sounds like a loud clap of thunder
when they finally reach the door, and it shakes them all to
the core.

BEATRICE
What do we do?

DANIELS
As long as we're in here we will be
safe. No one is getting through
those doors.

SAWYER
You know we won't be able to stay
in here forever cause I don't think
those things are leaving anytime
soon.

JAY
We'll just have to think of a way
of getting out of here.

SAWYER
And where do you suggest we go. We
have no fuel left on this plane.
The fueling stations are at least
two miles away.

Daniels stops listening to the conversation and turns to
Lanet.

DANIELS
Lanet, hit the searchlights.

Lanet moves over to a panel and flips four switches. A
series of four high powered beams shoot out from the ship.
She watches on a surveillance camera as the four lights shine
on the ground just below the ship.

DANIELS (cont'd)
Good, now aim all four beams
straight ahead.

LANET
Yes, sir.

She holds onto to the four directional switches and rotates
them and pushes all four lights straight ahead.

With each forward progression more and more of Erebus is
revealed.

Once Lanet reaches the furthest the lights will go, Daniels
walks slowly to the front window of the ship. Lanet follows
closely behind.

They stage out the window, and on the farthest edge of the
light in the distance something begins to move.

Then from all the edges of lights a mass of dead soldiers
sprint towards the ship.

As they watch, it almost seems like there is no end to the
amount of dead soldiers heading towards the Aeneid.

The rest of the crew takes notice and begins to watch the
soldiers moving towards them with an intense sense of
purpose.

The first set of soldiers make it to the ship. They leap
with all their might towards the window, but are not able to
reach it. Either they fall short of the window or they just
hit the base of the ship.

Every soldier attempts to make the same effort to reach the
crew alive inside the ship.

Soon an angry mob of dead soldiers have congregated outside
the surrounding parameters if the ship.

BEATRICE
(breaking down)
Dear God, they're everywhere.
Adlei, they are everywhere. What
are we going to do? There are so
many...

Daniels walks over to her and holds her. He leads her to the
command chair and sits her down.

DANIELS
Beatrice, relax. It'll be okay. I
promise you we will find a way out
of this.

RICHARD
And how do you plan on doing that?
They've got us surrounded in every
direction.

Daniels hangs his head and takes a deep breath.

DANIELS
(trying to remain calm)
Richard, please shut up. I am
telling you we will find a way out
of this situation. We just have to
put our heads together and...

The outside search lights and the inside lights flutter
quickly in unison for a period of about five seconds and then
they return to normal.

DANIELS (cont'd)
What the hell was that?

Lanet heads back to the controls, and shuffles through a
series of menus and prompts. She pulls up a percentage gauge
of how much fuel is left on the ship. The gauge displays a
dangerously low level of energy left on the ship.

LANET
Captain, the ship's internal energy
levels are showing extremely low
levels.

DANIELS
How low are we talking about?

LANET
At the ships current state we will
be able to maintain power for
approximately twelve hours.

DANIELS
Twelve hours. What time is it now?

Everyone looks around. It seems nobody has a watch on.

DANIELS (cont'd)
Does anybody have the time.

Richard pulls his sleeve back.

RICHARD
It's one in the morning.

Daniels looks over at Richard and nods his head with
affirmation.

DANIELS
(sincere)
Thanks.... So, that means we are
looking at 1:00pm today.

JAY
What happens at 1:00pm?

Lanet turns from the control panels.

LANET
We will have a full system failure.

JAY
And what does that mean.

RICHARD
That means we won't have enough
power to get off this planet, and
it also means those emergency locks
we have on those doors will stop
working, and there will be nothing
between them and us.

BEATRICE
We are still going to need to get
the ship over to the fueling rigs.

DANIELS
Lanet, how far are we from those
fueling rigs.

LANET
Guessing from our landing, we are
less than two miles away.

DANIELS
Richard, how much energy do you
think we will use getting to those
rigs.

Richard crosses his arms over his chest, and sits quietly for
a moment.

RICHARD
So Lanet, you are positive about
those two miles.

LANET
I'm as positive as I can be.

RICHARD
And, right now we are looking at
twelve hours of power left.
By my guesses, counting start up,
traveling distance, and landing
with a complete power down for
fueling that's probably going
too... probably will eliminate five
hours of our current running power.

DANIELS
(thinking it over)
Eight in the morning. We will have
to have a fully executed plan in
the next seven hours.

SAWYER
That's just not enough time.

TANK
Is there a way to make more time.

Everyone sits quietly.

DANIELS
Lanet, can you patch into the ships
controls system and power
everything down except for all
doors and locks.

LANET
I should be able to do that.

DANIELS
That should be able to buy us some
time, right.

RICHARD
Yes, that could at least buy us
another hour.

DANIELS
Let's do it Lanet.

She sits back down to the computers and punches through some
codes, and pulls up a series of fusing grids.

She powers down the outside search lights first quickly
masking the still clamoring soldiers under a shadow of night.

Lanet turns off the interior lighting in the ship. A lone
red bulb continues to glow inside the room, as she powers
down the remaining sets of items.

LANET
Turn off the air too, Captain?

DANIELS
Yes, we'll need every bit of extra
time... turn 'em off.

Lanet shakes her head and pushes the buttons turning off the
air.

The once rustle of blowing air slowly trickles to a stop.
All that can be heard now is the screams and moans of the
soldiers disparately trying to get into the ship.

Once their eyes adjust, the moons of Erebus provide just
enough light to see and just enough light to make out the
mass of bodies moving outside the window.

Everyone tries to get comfortable as they take seats on the
floor.

DANIELS (cont'd)
Anyone have any thoughts.

Nobody speaks up. They all have looks of worry across their
faces.

Daniels sits down against one of the walls and puts his head
against the wall.

Sawyer breaks the silence turning his direction to Daniels.

SAWYER
So, how do we kill them?

DANIELS
What are you looking at me for?

SAWYER
Right now you're the only one
before today to see one of these
things and live to talk about it.
I'm just wanting to know how you
killed the last one.

DANIELS
I wasn't trying to kill it. At
that point, I still thought it was
Roger. I was just trying to take
him down, so he would stop
attacking. I was just trying to
give him a flesh wound on his side,
but the bullet pierced a grenade on
his belt... and that was it.

SAWYER
What do you mean that was it?

DANIELS
The blast from the grenade knocked
me back, and the next thing I know
I am being led off the planet in
handcuffs.

BEATRICE
Why didn't you tell the courts
this?

DANIELS
I did. I told them everything, but
no one would believe that the dead
came back to life.

SAWYER
(growing frustrated)
I still don't understand why we are
here. If you knew what this planet
was capable of doing then why.

DANIELS
For the past fifteen years, there
hasn't been a day that has gone by
where I haven't second guessed
myself, and wondered if I was
crazy. They brainwashed me so much
that I wasn't sure what was real or
not anymore. The events just play
out like a nightmare that's still
haunting me today.

Sawyer continues to grow frustrated by Daniels and the
situation. He stands up and paces back and forth.

SAWYER
(angry)
Why the hell are we here?!

His frustration grows to a boiling point, and he slams his
fist into the wall.

Beatrice looks over at Daniels, and he catches her glance.

BEATRICE
(quietly to Daniels)
Tell them.

Daniels stands up.

DANIELS
I took this mission...

Daniels takes a deep breath.

DANIELS (cont'd)
I took this mission because of my
son. General Erickson threatened
me that if I did not accept the
mission he was going to make sure
that I never saw my son again. And
for that... for that I am sorry. I
am sorry that I have dragged you
all into this situation.

He hangs his head and walks towards the front window and
stares onto the landscape.

The crew remains silent. Beatrice steps up to his aid.

BEATRICE
(rallying)
Whether you agree with or not with
our being here, right now we have
to face the facts that we are here.
There has go to be some way we can
make it off this planet. And, we
know in order to do that we are
going to need to get to those
fueling stations. So what options
do we have?

LANET
We'll never have enough time to
refuel. We are going to have to
distract them somehow. But how?

Daniels continues to stare off in the distant, but his eyes
seem to be concentrating on something off in the distance.

SAWYER
We have no way out. We have no
weapons. We have nothing, and they
have us surrounded.

BEATRICE
Come on, we just have to think.

SAWYER
I am! I'm thinking it's too damn
hot to be thinking.

Daniels attention to the conversation perks up.

DANIELS
What's that?

SAWYER
Sorry, Captain, but it is too hot
not to be running the air. We'll
melt before the morning.

DANIELS
I think you are exactly right.
Lanet, why don't you turn the air
back on.

SAWYER
(surprised)
Well thanks, Captain.

LANET
Your the boss.

Lanet patches back into the system.

BEATRICE
I thought we said we shouldn't be
using the air.

Daniels stops and points to the air duct just as the air is
coming back on.

The rustle of the air starts back up once again as the cooler
air begins to circulate into the room.

The entire crew watches the air duct, and then back to each
other.

DANIELS
There's our way out.

SAWYER
Right under our noses the whole
time.

DANIELS
We should be able to use the air
ducts to move throughout the ship.

RICHARD
That's good and all, but what are
we suggesting.

DANIELS
We are going to need weapons. A
whole lot of weapons.

JAY
Now we're talking.

DANIELS
From the air ducts, we should be
able to move undetected to the
artillery units. From there we can
gather enough weapons to make a
stand.

RICHARD
That helps our chances in here, but
what about out there.

Daniels moves back to the front window, and points out into
the distance.

DANIELS
There's our answer.

RICHARD
You're not making any sense, man.

DANIELS
I've been watching, and I think I
have noticed a sort of pattern in
the fires.

Everyone stares out the window off into the distance. The
fire geysers go off in a continuous, but varied formations.

DANIELS (cont'd)
If you traced all of the geysers,
you could connect them all in a
large circle.

RICHARD
I still don't get what you are
getting at.

DANIELS
I've had a long time to think about
all of this; fifteen years worth of
thinking to be exact, and I think I
might be onto something. It all
points back to the DyOx. The
reason why the military was so
concerned with getting the rights
to DyOx is because of it's infinite
possibilities as a combustible
fuel. Through some sort of
chemical reaction the DyOx is able
to regenerate upon itself. I think
that is what's happening to the
dead.
Once these soldiers died, the DyOx
got in there system and caused the
human cells of the soldiers to
regenerate and to come back to
life.

RICHARD
Even in there is truth behind that,
how is that helping us now.

Daniels points back to the fire geysers.

DANIELS
Those fires never stop burning.
There is some sort of explosion
below the surface that cause these
geysers to keep rising and falling
and I think it is that fact where
we can create our diversion.

SAWYER
Where's the diversion?

DANIELS
If we can get to one of these
geysers and drop a grenade in one
of those geysers after it has
retreated back into the ground we
could create an explosion that
could connect all of the geysers.

SAWYER
(light bulb going off)
And if we can't get these dead
bastards into that circle before
the explosion we could corral them
in there and keep them trapped.

DANIELS
Yes, and trapped long enough to get
to the fueling stations.

RICHARD
But you haven't said yet how you
plan on us getting to those
geysers.

DANIELS
We will wait till the first lights
of morning and using the air ducts
we will crawl to the loading dock
and we will use one of the trucks
to get us to the geysers, and
hopefully the truck will draw out
some of the guys from inside.

SAWYER
There seems to be a lot of things
we are betting on. What if the
grenade does nothing more than just
explode?

DANIELS
Well even in that happens, it will
still buy us some time.

BEATRICE
I agree. I think this is our best
and only option.

RICHARD
But, who's going to go.

Everyone looks around and stares at each other.

Jay steps up.

JAY
I'll do it. You guys won't ever
let me fire a gun so at least this
way I can blow some **** up.

Daniels walks over to Jay and shakes his hand.

DANIELS
You are a good man.

JAY
Thank you, sir. I have always been
proud to serve under your command.

Daniels nods his head in affirmation.

DANIELS
Good. Now we just need to get the
weapons. I will elect myself to
go, and I'll need one more person
to come with me.

SAWYER
(strong presence)
I'll go.

DANIELS
Thank you, Sawyer. Let's get a
move on. We can't waste any more
time. Tank, you want to help us
get the grate down.

TANK
You got it.

Tank climbs up on one of the computer console counters. He
reaches up as high as he can and is able to push up the grate
and slide it back into the duct.

DANIELS
Okay. Lanet pull up the ship's
construction files and we'll see
how we can get access the artillery
unit.

Lanet pulls up a series on construction designs for the
Aeneid. She zooms in on the design.

Daniels steps behind her as she zooms through the map
following the maze of ducts from the navigational deck to the
artillery unit.

DANIELS (cont'd)
Okay, I've got it.

He jumps up on the counter.

DANIELS (cont'd)
You want to give me a bust, big
man.

Tank lowers his hands to give Daniels a footing.

Daniels manages to pull himself up and grab hold of the duct.
Tank helps lift him into the shaft.

Daniels situates himself into the duct, and reaches a hand
down as Sawyer climbs up with Tank's help.

Daniels help pulls up Sawyer into the duct.

INT. AIR DUCT - NIGHT

Daniels and Sawyer start crawling through the air ducts

They quietly move through the ducts trying not to draw any
attention on to these whereabouts.

They actually pass over a hallway filled with zombies.

Daniels stops and motions with two fingers for Sawyer to take
a look.

Sawyer looks down briefly, but they keep on moving through
the maze of air ducts.

They finally reach a point over the artillery unit.

Daniels quietly picks up the grate and pushes it out of the
way in the duct.

INT. ARTILLERY UNIT - NIGHT

Daniels holds onto the duct with both hands and slowly lets
himself down. With all his strength, he lowers himself
amazingly slow trying not to make any extra movements or
sound.

Once Daniels is hanging fully extended from the duct, he lets
go and falls to the ground. When he lands, he quickly tries
to bend his knees to absorb the impact, but he lands funny on
his knee and hits the ground with a thud. The artillery unit
is located at the end of a long hallway, and at the end of
this hallway is a wall filled with all sorts of guns and
weapons.

Daniels starts pulling down automatic machine guns quickly
while darting his attention to the end of the hallway.
Sawyer lowers himself down slightly head first and reaches
down with both hands and starts taking guns from Daniels.
They both move quickly.

Daniels grabs a flame thrower and quickly passes it up to
Sawyer.

Daniels pulls down two automatic rifles and a full grenade
belt and looks down the hallway.

Out of the darkness at the end of the hallway, a mob of
soldiers emerge and see Daniels. They start sprinting
towards him.

Daniels passes up the rifles and grenades, and then quickly
grabs as much ammo as he came and tosses it to Sawyer.

The dead soldiers are moving faster and are drawing much
closer.

Sawyer reaches down for Daniels hand. Daniels reaches up but
they cannot reach. He tries jumping, but still cannot reach.
The blood hungry soldiers are frighteningly close.

SAWYER
Come on!

Daniels looks towards the zombies and actually starts running
towards them. He stops after a few steps and turns back to
the artillery wall. He sprints and jumps towards the wall
and with one foot, he kicks off the wall back toward Sawyer's
hand getting just enough height to grab it.

Sawyer pulls up as hard as he can. Daniels manages to get
one of his hands on to the duct and starts pulling himself
up.

The dead soldiers reach for his feet and miss them by only
mere inches.

Daniels gets himself fully into the air duct while Sawyer has
taken one of the guns and starts shooting madly at the mass
of zombies below.

He continues to keep firing and plowing down bodies as they
continue to keep coming.

Daniels signals that it is time to go with his hands.

DANIELS
Let's move.

Sawyer grabs all the guns he can and starts crawling back
towards the navagational deck while Daniels puts the grate
back into place.

Daniels picks up the remaining guns and grenade belt and
follows quickly behind.

INT. NAVAGATIONAL DECK - NIGHT

They manage to make their way back to the navagational deck.

SAWYER
Tank, can we get a hand.

Tank moves back up on the counter.

TANK
What was the firing?

SAWYER
We got ambushed.

BEATRICE
Where's Daniels?

SAWYER
He's behind me.

Sawyer starts passing down guns to Tank. Jay jumps up and
starts taking the guns from Tank. He pretends to act like he
is firing each one of the guns.

Sawyer climbs down out of the duct and then Daniels shows up
and starts passing down his weapons. He climbs down, and
Beatrice immediately gives him a hug.

BEATRICE
I thought something happened to
you.

DANIELS
I'm all right, but thank you.

Beatrice lets go of her embrace.

RICHARD
So what do we do now?

DANIELS
Now, we just wait till morning.

Daniels sits down against a wall.

DANIELS (cont'd)
Why not try and get some sleep if
you can? We'll need our strength.

Everyone starts sitting back down and try to get comfortable.

DANIELS (cont'd)
And, Lanet... we can turn the air
back off.

Sawyer looks up.

DANIELS (cont'd)
Don't worry; you'll survive.

Daniels leans his head back against the wall and closes his
eyes.

FADE OUT:

EXT. EREBUS DAY

The sun begins to crest over the horizon as it chases across
the landscape finding the Aeneid still surrounded by zombies.

INT. NAVAGATIONAL DECK - DAY

The sunlight breaks through the front window drawing in the
light into the navagational deck.

It pierces into Captain Daniels eyes. Upon reaching his
face, his eyes flutter and then open.

They have survived the night.

Daniels stands up and surveys the room. Everyone is asleep
except for Beatrice. She is silhouetted by the rising sun at
the front of the ship.

He moves over to her.

BEATRICE
It's beautiful isn't it.

DANIELS
Yes, it is.

BEATRICE
I wasn't sure last night if I was
going to see the sun again. I
wanted to make sure that I saw this
sunrise, and I wanted to remember
this one forever.

They both look out onto Erebus and the rising sun.

BEATRICE (cont'd)
Adlei, are we going to make it?

DANIELS
I sure hope so.

They share a moment of silence.

DANIELS (cont'd)
Come on. It's time.

Daniels turns around to the crew.

DANIELS (cont'd)
All right. Everybody up.

Daniels starts walking through the room.

DANIELS (cont'd)
Today is the day.

Everyone slowly starts moving and standing up.

Jay is still sleeping. Daniels walks over to him and with
his foot nudges at his side.

DANIELS (cont'd)
Time to get up.

Jay stretches and yawns and gets to his feet.

Daniels looks around at his crew. They look tired and
exhausted but ready to fight.

DANIELS (cont'd)
Good. Jay, you ready to get
moving.

JAY
What? No good morning kiss first.

Daniels gives him a discerning look.

JAY (cont'd)
All right, all right. I'm ready.

Daniels passes him the grenade belt. Jay's eyes light up.

JAY (cont'd)
Now I'm ready.

Jay starts fastening the belt. Daniels passes him a machine
gun.

DANIELS
You'll need this too.

He takes it and looks at it like he has never see a gun
before. He stuffs it into the side of his pants.

DANIELS (cont'd)
All right so you know the plan.
Get to the truck, and head for
those geysers. Remember those
things are fast, but they won't be
able to out run you in the truck,
so just haul ass to give yourself
plenty of time. Make sure that
they are all in the inside circle
before dropping the grenade into
one of those geyser. Got it.

JAY
Yeah.

Daniels extends his hand out, and Jay starts to shake it, but
Daniels pulls him close and gives him a quick manly hug and
pat on the back.

DANIELS
Good luck to you.

JAY
Thanks.

DANIELS
Tank, a little help.

Tank jumps back on the counter, and helps Jay get up and into
the duct. Jay struggles to pull himself up.

DANIELS (cont'd)
Come on... use those muscles.

JAY
What muscles?

The crew manages to find some laughter in the comment as Jay
finally manages to pull himself up.

DANIELS
It should be a straight shot back
to the loading dock.

JAY
Okay.

Jay disappears quickly into the duct.

INT. AIR DUCT - DAY

Jay crowds through the ducts, and he makes his way over to
the loading dock.

INT. LOADING STATION - DAY

He pulls up the grate and slides it back.

He peers his head down into the loading dock and surveys the
area. There is no one in sight. The truck is directly below
him. He drops down onto the top of the truck managing to
land softly. He quickly looks around to make sure there is
nobody around.

He climbs down off the truck and heads to the loading bay
doors. He looks nervously around, and it is still quiet.

He puts his hand on the lever to open the bay door. He takes
a series of deep breaths, and begins to psych himself up.

He takes one last breath, and pulls the lever. The hydraulic
press for the door unhinges and the door starts lowering. It
makes a tremendous amount of noise.

INT. OUTSIDE NAVAGATIONAL DECK - DAY

All of the zombies hear the noises coming from the back of
the ship and start running that way.

Jay runs back towards the truck, opens the door, and jumps in
the truck.

He looks for the keys in the ignition.

JAY
****. Where are the keys?

He frantically starts looking for the keys.

JAY (cont'd)
Keys. Keys. Where are the fucking
keys?

The loading bay door is halfway down. Zombies can be see
outside waiting.

Jay searches everywhere. He pulls down the visor, and the
keys fall into his lap.

JAY (cont'd)
Thank you.

He puts the keys in the ignition and the truck starts right
up roaring to life echoing throughout the loading dock.

He looks back towards the bay doors which are still lowering.

He turns back around to the front and all of a sudden ahead
of him in the distance is the mass of zombies heading towards
him.

JAY (cont'd)
Oh ****.

He looks back at the door.

JAY (cont'd)
Come on. Come on.

He looks back towards the front, and they are still racing
towards him.

Jay reaches over to his left and pushes the door lock down
and then reaches over to the passenger side and pushes down
the other door lock.

He throws the truck into reverse. The doors to the loading
dock hit the ground.

The zombies from the outside are already running up and
climbing up the ramp.

Jay floors the truck peeling the tires out. It goes flying
down the ramp knocking down the zombies on the ramp.

The zombies from the front are still chasing towards the
truck.

EXT. EREBUS - DAY

When the truck hits the ground, Jay keeps it floored running
over countless soldiers.

The outside zombies try and grab onto the quickly moving
truck. A few of the inside zombies manage to jump onto the
hood of the truck.

More continue to grab hold of whatever they can as the truck
continues to pick up speed.

INT. TRUCK - DAY

Jay watches the speedometer which is quickly reaching fifty
miles per hour.

JAY
Get moving you piece of ****.

He pushes his foot harder onto the floor, and the truck
manages to get a little more acceleration.

A series of zombies on the hood crawl there way to the
windshield.

Another zombie on the passenger side is climbing up the side
with his head drooling in the window.

He looks ahead and all of the zombies from in and around the
ship are chasing after him.

He looks back at the speedometer; he is almost to seventy
five miles per hour.

JAY (cont'd)
Here we go!

Zombies are everywhere.

Jay reaches to the bottom of the steering wheel and pulls it
as hard as he can up to the top.

EXT. EREBUS - DAY

The truck goes into a full J-Turn as the zombies on the hood
go sliding to the side and the other zombies are sent flying
to the ground.

INT. TRUCK - DAY

Jay keeps pulling hard on the steering wheel as the truck
almost completes a full 180 degree turn.

Once the turn is complete, Jay throws the truck into third
gear and floors it again. The tires peel out on the dirt and
gets back to moving fast without losing hardly any distance
between the quickly running zombies.

He keeps the truck floored trying to pick back up a lot of
speed.

EXT. TRUCK - DAY

The zombies that still are on the truck begin to climb
quickly up the truck once again.

One of the zombies is extremely close to the windshield.

INT. TRUCK - DAY

Jay watches in horror as the zombie begins to rise up and
punches the front windshield cracking it.

EXT. TRUCK - DAY

The zombie punches it again and shatters the glass, blood
pours from his hands but it does not stop him.

INT. TRUCK - DAY

The zombie begins to try and climb into the truck. Jay pulls
out his hand gun and quickly shoots the zombie in the heart
which knocks the zombie back a little and actually irritates
the zombie further. It stands up and looks like it is ready
to pounce at any second.

Jay slams on the brakes sending the zombie flying.

He throws it back into gear and floors it again.

EXT. TRUCK - DAY

He runs over the zombie on the ground crushing its head
underneath the weight of the truck.

Now Jay begins to turn the truck and head back towards the
front of the ship and towards the fire geysers.

INT. TRUCK - DAY

He throws it into a higher gear and continues gaining speed.

He looks in the rear view mirror and sees the thousands of
zombies chasing him.

Just then a dead face appears in the rear view mirror.

Jay jumps back in fright. The zombie is right outside his
driver side door.

The zombie head butts the window knocking glass into the cab
and all over Jay.

The zombie begins reaching and gets a hold of his shirt and
starts pulling itself into the cab.

Jay starts trying to break the zombie's grip, but it is no
use, the zombie is just too strong.

Jay reaches over and pulls the door look, and he grabs the
door handle and elbows the door open.

The zombie falls but continues to grab on the window frame.

Jay swerves the truck and the door and the door swings fully
open as the zombie swings out. It loses some of it's grip,
but it keeps holding on.

Jay swerves again and the door flies back toward the truck
closing it. He elbows the door open again.

EXT. TRUCK - DAY

He swerves even harder sending the door flying back open, and
the zombie ultimately loses its grip and falls to the ground
breaking its limbs upon impact.

INT. TRUCK - DAY

Jay swerves again and sends the door back into a closed
position.

He straightens out the truck and heads for the geyser still a
considerable ways away.

INT. NAVAGATIONAL DECK - DAY

The whole crew is sitting by the window waiting to see Jay
make into their line of sight.

The truck comes into their view, and it is traveling fast.

DANIELS
There he is! He made it!

TANK
You go!

They all cheer.

DANIELS
Lanet, bring us back up to full
power.

LANET
(with raised spirits)
Yes, sir.

Lanet jumps back down to the controls panels and calls back
up all of the programs and returns power back to the ship.

The lights return back on as computers start back up.

The air kicks on cooling the room instantly.

INT. TRUCK - DAY

Jay looks back towards the Aeneid and raises his hand out the
window.

He catches a glimpse of another zombie in the rear view
mirror. It is climbing up the back of the truck.

Jay pulls out his handgun and looks out the broken window.
He fires a shot hitting the zombie on the shoulder, but it
does nothing to stop it.

It keeps inching closer and closer. He looks back out the
window and takes a steady aim and fires off a shot that
crushes the backside of the zombie's head.

EXT. TRUCK - DAY

The zombie falls but is able to hold onto the bottom of the
truck as its legs drag on the ground. The dirt rips the
flesh right off of its legs. It begins losing its grip.

Jay looks down at it as it reaches for something to grip. It
finds a pipe on the undercarriage and it latches on to it.

But the pipe will not hold the zombie, and it snaps from the
weight sending fuel spewing from the broken pipe.

The zombie loses its grip and falls to the ground and is
crushed by the rear tires of the truck.

JAY
Got you!

INT. TRUCK - DAY

He straightens the truck back out, and heads for the geysers.

Jay begins to look comfortable, but he notices the needle for
the gas gauge dropping quickly.

JAY
What's going on?

It keeps dropping rapidly.

JAY (cont'd)
No, no, no!

The need drops below the empty line and the engine does as
the truck begins to start slowing down.

The heavy weight of the truck causes the truck to slow even
faster.

INT. NAVAGATIONAL DECK - DAY

The crew watches his progress and the mass of zombies chasing
him.

SAWYER
Why is he slowing down?

BEATRICE
Something must be wrong.

The truck slows even further.

DANIELS
Just keeping going, kid.

INT. TRUCK - DAY

Jay watches the speedometer as it drops below twenty miles
per hour then fifteen, then ten.

He looks back in the rear view mirror, he can see a line of
zombies filling his mirror.

The truck comes to a stop.

EXT. TRUCK - DAY

Jay opens the door and jumps out of the truck and starts
running for the geysers which are still three hundred yards
away.

He runs wildly for his life glancing over his shoulder at the
oncoming sign of death.

INT. NAVAGATIONAL DECK - DAY

The crew is all watching in horror as the zombies gain
ground.

RICHARD
He's not going to make it.

BEATRICE
He'll make it. I know he will.

Daniels jumps into the command chair, and starts punching
through command codes.

BEATRICE (cont'd)
What are you doing?

DANIELS
We can't wait to see if he will
make it or not. This is our one
chance to get to the stations.

BEATRICE
We just can't leave him.

DANIELS
I'm not leaving him...

He grips the ship's controls and pulls them back as the ship
starts rumbling and begins to take off.

DANIELS (cont'd)
... I know he'll make it.

EXT. EREBUS - DAY

Jay continues to sprint. He sees the closest geyser still at
150 yards. He looks back and can see the zombies which are
250 yards away and gaining. He can also see the ship in the
air heading towards the fueling stations.

He looks back towards the geyser which is still erupting and
finds his second wind and is able to pick up his pace.

He reaches to his side and grabs a grenade from his belt.

He pulls it to his mouth and yanks out the pin with his teeth
and spits it out. He grips tightly to the live grenade and
continues to sprint.

The geyser is still roaring at 100 feet in the air, but is
begin to fall back down to the earth as Jay is now 80 yards
away and the zombies are 130 yards away.

It doesn't look like Jay will not make it to the geyser
before it completely falls back, but he keeps running.

The zombies have finally gotten into close range and still
getting closer and closer.

Jay watches as the fire keeps falling. He keeps running for
his life towards the blazing inferno before him. The heat
from the flames become unbearable as Jay screams in agony and
frustration, but keeps running.

He can hear the footsteps of the zombies behind him.

He keeps running and just as he reaches the edge of the
geyser it falls below the surface and he leaps with all of
his might across the giant cavern. He drops the grenade dead
center into the hole and continues reaching for the other
side.

He lands abruptly on the edge of the geyser wall just as a
quick back draft below the surface draws the fire further
down under the surface buying him just a little more to time
to pull himself up.

He struggles to pull himself up, but manages to get back to
his feet. He starts running, but it's more of a stumble now.

The first line of zombies have reached the geyser, and they
jump across with great force. They will easily clear the
geyser hole.

While in mid air the grenade denotes sending a geyser
explosion jetting out of the hole incinerating the zombies in
air.

Jay is launched forward and hits the dirt.

A series of thundering explosions go off as the ground
shakes. Fire starts shooting up from the ground, and just as
predicted all of the fire geysers explode through the surface
connecting a towering ring of fire.

Jay looks up and starts trying to crawl further away from the
fires. His face has blistered from the heat. He passes out
in the dirt. He was successful.

INT. NAVAGATIONAL DECK - DAY

The Aeneid hovers close to the ground and approaches the
fueling stations from the corner of the front window you can
see the ring of fire burning on the distance. The crew
crowds the window looking on.

Daniels is at the controls manning the ship.

SAWYER
He did it! Captain, the soldiers
are trapped behind the fire.

The computer system begins alerting that they have extremely
low fuel left. It flashes red.

BEATRICE
Can we go back and check on Jay.

DANIELS
We only have enough fuel to get to
the stations.

The ship's computer system begins a forced descent because of
the low fuel. A percentage gauge for fuel usage begins
dropping.

BEATRICE
But, we can't just leave him there.

DANIELS
I promise you. We will not leave
him behind.

The percentage keeps dropping as the computer makes
continuous warnings.

Daniels guides the ship to a direct spot along the fueling
tanks.

Daniels manages to land the ship along side five extremely
large metal fuel tanks connected off each tank are a series
of pumps and gauges.

DANIELS (cont'd)
All right, everybody take a gun.

Everyone goes for a gun. Tank grabs a gun and the flame
thrower.

DANIELS (cont'd)
Everybody ready.

The crew all stands armed with their weapons.

DANIELS (cont'd)
I'm putting the ship in a full
power down for the refueling. When
I do that the emergency lock is
going to be turned off. I want you
all to be ready for whatever comes
through those doors. Is that
clears?

CREW
Yes, sir.

They all form a line a few feet from the door. Daniels pulls
a power down program up on the screen.

DANIELS
Ready...One...Two...

Everyone points there weapons at the door.

DANIELS (cont'd)
Three.

Daniels pressed the power down button, and jumps up with his
gun and joins the crew. Everything starts shutting down from
the lights to the air and finally the doors open.

As soon as the door opens, seven zombies come racing into the
navagational deck

The zombies do not even stand a chance. They are met with a
shower of bullets from every angle.

They continue to move closer and closer, but with each step
bullets rip, tear, and destroy their flesh and bones until
there is nothing left of the zombies.

As they fall to the ground, the crew continues to fire just
to make sure there is nothing left of the soldiers.

The crew stops firing and stare at the bodies in silence.

DANIELS (cont'd)
All right everyone, let's move
quickly.

Daniels leads the way out of the navagational deck.

INT. AENEID - DAY

Everyone files out of the navagational deck.

DANIELS
Everyone be on your guard. There
could still be ones on the ship.

In a tightly formed group, they quickly move through the
ship.

Each corner they move around somebody checks down that hall
quickly. They continue this through the maze of hallways.

INT. LOADING STATION - DAY

The crew makes there way to the loading dock. The bay doors
are still open from Jay's escape.

Things outside are eerily quiet.

The crew stands on the ramp and look down at Erebus.

A noise comes behind them. They turn around with their guns
pointed.

Something is coming down the hallways. The metal grates
rattle with each step. The crew raises their guns as the
noise gets closer.

Down the hallway, they can finally see what's coming towards
them. It's Gayle except she is a zombie now.

SAWYER
Don't shoot. It's Gayle.

Gayle keeps moving towards them.

SAWYER (cont'd)
Gayle, stop!

DANIELS
That's not Gayle anymore.

The crew has there guns pointed at Gayle, but no one has the
heart to shoot her.

Her pace picks up as she gets closer.

Daniels aims for her head, and fires off a shot blowing off
the back of her head.

SAWYER
No!

He steps and turns around so he doesn't have to watch.

Gayle keeps coming as the rest of the crew opens fire. It
doesn't take much to fully stop her. Gayle's body falls to
the ground and withers around.

The crew stands silent. Daniels turns around and pats Sawyer
on the back.

DANIELS
(quietly)
Come on.

He drags Sawyer along with him and the rest of the crew
follows.

EXT. FUELING STATION - DAY

Daniels climbs a small flight of stairs along the side of the
first tank. He grabs the pump and pass it down to Tank.

Tank walks the pump back to the ship as Daniels unravels the
hose feeding Tank the slack.

INT. LOADING STATION - DAY

Tank walks the hose back into the loading station, on the
floor of the station is an outline of a circle the size of a
sewer man hole.

There is a handle that lies flush with the circle. Tank
pulls up the handle and lifts up the circle.

Tank place the circular lid to the side. Below the lid is a
smaller circle for the fuel pump.

Tank places the nozzle of the pump into the hole.

He turns back to Daniels and gives him a thumbs up.

EXT. FUELING STATION - DAY

Daniels drops down a metal lever and turns a metal wheel
three times. He stands up and looks at everything, but
nothing is happening. He bends down and puts his ear near
the pumps.

He stands back up and yells back to Tank.

DANIELS
Is anything coming out!

INT. LOADING STATION - DAY

Tank lifts up the nozzle, and its bone dry.

TANK
Got nothing!

EXT. FUELING STATION - DAY

Daniels motions for Tank to come over, and he climbs down the
flight of stairs to join the rest of the crew.

DANIELS
The fuel line must be turned off at
the source. We'll have to turn
everything back on at the pump
station.

BEATRICE
Well, where do we do that?

Daniels points over to a series of stairs heading into a room
underground.

DANIELS
I'm willing to guess that it's down
there...

The crew looks at the eerie staircase heading into the
ground.

DANIELS (cont'd)
All right, Lanet, Frank, and Sawyer
come with me. Beatrice and Richard
stay up here and shoot anything
that moves.

Lanet, Tank, and Sawyer follow Daniels toward the stairs.

Richard climbs the stairs to the first fueling station and
takes guard.

Beatrice moves towards the ramp of the ship and watches for
anything.

Daniels leads his group to the pump station stairs. A flight
of stairs head below the surface to a dark open entry way.
There is a heavy steel door to the entrance, but it is fully
open.

INT. UNDERGROUND STATION - DAY

Daniels leads them into the pump station. It is extremely
dark. Daniels pulls up a switch for the lights. Nothing
happens when he hits the switch.

He looks around the ceilings.

DANIELS
The bomb must have knocked at all
of the power.

Sawyer reaches in his back pocket and pulls out a small
flashlight.

SAWYER
It's not much.

DANIELS
Let's just turn those pumps on.

Daniels leads them further into the dark cavern with Sawyer
directing the light.

The station is extremely industrial and steam is venting from
various areas. It is very tight quarters.

INT. VALUE HALLWAY - DAY

The turn a corner and there are a series of hand turn valves.

DANIELS
Here they are. We need to turn all
the valves to fully open. Here's
one and...

Daniels points down the line to the other two valves. One os
about twenty five feet further down while the other is fifty
feet further down.

DANIELS (cont'd)
There's two and three.

LANET
I'll get one of those.

TANK
Yeah, I'll get the other.

Lanet and Tank start walking down the hall as Sawyer holds up
the light for everyone.

Daniels starts turning his valve.

LANET
(to Tank)
I'll take this one if you want to
grab that last one.

TANK
Yeah, no problem.

Lanet reaches her valve and starts turning her valve.

Tank makes it down to his valve and starts turning his valve.

Just at this time, Daniels has fully opened his valve.

Lanet and Tank continue with their wheels.

TANK (cont'd)
Can you hold that light a little
higher. It's hard to see this ****
down here.

Sawyer raises his flash light a little higher and catches
something further down the hall past Tank.

He shines his light even higher past him.

Lanet finishes her valve.

TANK (cont'd)
What happened to my light?

Tank looks up at Sawyer and even staring into the light beam
he can see the look of horror on his face.

At the end of the hall is another massive group of zombies
who are moving their way up the hall.

Tank turns back around and sees the zombies, and he starts
turning his valve faster and faster.

DANIELS
Come on, Tank!

TANK
I'm going. I'm going.

He keeps spinning it.

Lanet has run up to Tank and started shooting her gun towards
the zombies.

She unloads the rest of her clip, and reaches for another,
but she is out and they are still coming after them.

TANK (cont'd)
Go! Just go! I'll be right behind
you.

Lanet starts running back to Daniels and Sawyer.

LANET
Let's get moving!

Daniels and Lanet start heading for the door. Sawyer turns
and hits his hand on a pipe and drops the flashlight,
breaking it and distinguishing all light.

In the dark, Tank keeps turning. He finishes and can here
heavy breathing surrounding him.

He quickly reaches to his back and grabs the flame thrower.
He ignites the thrower, and with the little bit of light from
the ignition he can see all the horrible ghastly faces
surrounding him. He blocks the pathway between the others
and pulls the trigger on the flame thrower.

When the flame hits the zombies they scream in agony. The
two or three rows get covered in flames, but there are just
too many zombies.

Tank starts walking backwards, and turns up the flame thrower
to full throttle and squeeze the trigger even harder as the
flame grows amazingly strong and bright.

Countless zombies start climbing over the burning one to get
to Tank.

Tank screams at the top of his lungs as he continues to throw
fire and not let the zombies past him. The zombies are too
much in numbers and there is nothing he can do to stop them
all. His yells echo throughout the underground station.

INT. UNDERGROUND STATION - DAY

Daniels, Lanet, and Sawyer hear Tank's screams.

Lanet starts running back, but Daniels grabs her by the
shoulders and hold her as she fights to get free.

LANET
(in tears)
Tank!

DANIELS
We have to get out of here.

Daniels pushes Sawyer to get him moving and helps Lanet get
moving.

They can see the light of day ahead and continue running for
the door while at the same time the screams of the zombies
can be heard growing in number and growing closer.

They sprint for the door.

EXT. UNDERGROUND STATION - DAY

When they make it through the door, they shut the heavy metal
door and pull down the heavy locking latch.

Daniels leads them up the stairs.

EXT. PUMPING STATION - DAY

They get to the top of the stairs. Richard and Beatrice are
still standing guard outside.

DANIELS
Sawyer, stand guard on the stairs.
Don't let them get through that
door.

Daniels looks around and sees Richard at the top of the
pumps.

DANIELS (cont'd)
Richard, get those pumps started up
there!

Richard pulls the lever to get the pump on and turns the hand
crank to start fueling.

BEATRICE
Where's Tank?

DANIELS
He didn't make it!

The zombies have reached the door and begin banging on the
door trying to rip the door off of its hinges.

Sawyer looks scared while look Lanet still looks pretty shook
up.

DANIELS (cont'd)
Beatrice, come take Lanet. Get her
on the ship and get things ready to
start when I tell you.

Beatrice comes and grabs Lanet and puts her arm around her
and gets her to walk with her back into the ship.

DANIELS (cont'd)
How we going up there, Richard?

RICHARD
She's flowing now.

Daniels runs over to Sawyer.

DANIELS
I'll watch after the door. You get
into the ship and when the ship's
finished fueling throw the nozzle
and hose back towards Richard and
close the fueling lid.

SAWYER
Got it.

Sawyer runs back to the ship.

Daniels reloads his gun and points it down to the door below.
The hinges on the door are beginning to break.

DANIELS
Sawyer, how much fuel do we have.

SAWYER
We have a quarter of a tank!

DANIELS
Keep going!

Daniels picks up his gun and points it down toward the door
it is still breaking and the screams are horrific.

DANIELS (cont'd)
(yelling over his
shoulder)
Richard, get back to the ship!

Richard runs down the stairs and back to the ship.

The door has almost busted open.

Daniels with his gun still aimed begins walking backwards to
the ship.

DANIELS (cont'd)
How much do we have now?!

SAWYER
We have half a tank.

He continues walking backwards.

DANIELS
That's enough!

INT. LOADING STATION - DAY

Sawyer removes the nozzle still pouring DyOx and throws it
onto the ground.

EXT. PUMPING STATION - DAY

Daniels walks backwards and steps in the puddle of DyOx
forming in the dirt.

He drops his gun and runs for the ship.

INT. LOADING STATION - DAY

Daniels makes it to the ship.

DANIELS
Richard, get this ship moving now.

Richard runs towards the navagational deck.

Sawyer finishes closing the lid.

EXT. UNDERGROUND STATION - DAY

The last hinges holding the heavy steel door finally give way
and break.

The zombies come pouring out of the dark hole and up the
stairs.

INT. NAVAGATIONAL DECK - DAY

Richard and Lanet get everything powered up and running. The
lights come on and the air begins.

Richard pulls on the thrusters bringing the ship off the
ground. The ship shakes violently as the DyOx begins running
through the system for the first time, and Richard struggles
with the controls.

INT. LOADING STATION - DAY

Daniels and Sawyer try and keep their footing as the ship
shakes, but Sawyer cannot.

He falls onto the ramp and rolls down to the bottom.

He begins falling off the end of the ramp, but is able to
hold onto the edge.

The zombies jump to try and grab his feet.

Daniels runs down carefully and lies down on the ramp and
grabs a hold on Sawyer.

Daniels pulls as hard as he can.

DANIELS
I'm not letting you go!

He reaches down, and Sawyer grabs his other hand.

The zombies are coming close to pulling him down.

Sawyer manages to pull himself up, and crawls to the top.

The ship gets more elevation.

Daniels reaches behind his back and grabs his gun. He closes
one eye and aims for the pumps.

He takes one shot and hits the pumps causing an instant
explosion.

The explosion continues along the fuel lines. The zombies
closest to the explosion are thrown into the air in flames.

Daniels crawls back into the ship and runs up towards the
navagational deck with Sawyer.

INT. NAVAGATIONAL DECK - DAY

Richard is flying the ship.

RICHARD
Time to get off this planet.

DANIELS
No, we have to check on Jay.

RICHARD
This planet is going to blow any
second.

DANIELS
That is an order.

RICHARD
(strong acknowledgement)
That is an order.

Richard flies towards the ring of fire as the planet seems to
crumbling.

Inside the ring, the zombies are still trying to break free.

The crew scans the land for Jay.

BEATRICE
There he is.

They spot Jay on the outside edges of the fire. He is still
face down in the dirt.

DANIELS
Take us over there.

Richard steers the ship over there. He lands near him.

Daniels heads back to the loading station.

RICHARD
Daniels, be careful. We don't know
if he died out there.

DANIELS
Got it.

Daniels continues running.

INT. LOADING STATION - DAY

Daniels sees Jay still face down and runs down the ramp
towards him.

EXT. FIRE RING - DAY

The ground shakes as Daniels runs towards Jay and drops to
his knees and turns him over.

DANIELS
Jay... Jay, can you hear me?

Jay is unresponsive.

DANIELS (cont'd)
Jay.

Jay' eyes open quickly, and Daniels backs away. Jay starts
coughing.

DANIELS (cont'd)
Jay, you made it.

JAY
(weak)
I told you... I was going to blow
some **** up.

Daniels laughs and helps Jay up. He puts Jay's arm over his
shoulder, and they both walk back to the ship.

INT. LOADING STATION - DAY

The walk up the ramp, and Daniels hits the lever to close the
door.

They continue walking into the ship.

INT. NAVAGATIONAL DECK - DAY

The crew sees Jay, and cheer that he made it. They get up to
hug him.

DANIELS
Let's get airborne now.

Richard throws on the thrusters, and the ship takes off and
heads for the skies.

EXT. EREBUS - DAY

The explosions on the surface continue as the many various
fires on the surface connect.

All remaining zombies are incinerated in the explosions.

The crew of the Aeneid leave the planet now a burning ocean
of fire.

EXT. AENEID - DAY

The Aeneid makes its way into the atmosphere and into space.

INT. NAVAGATIONAL DECK - DAY

The crew looks exhausted. Richard steps away from the
command chair.

RICHARD
I believe this is your chair,
Captain.

DANIELS
We may not have always agreed on
everything, but you are a good man
and I believe in you. I would like
to extend to you the title of
Captain of the Aeneid.

Richard steps up and gives him a handshake which turns into a
hug.

RICHARD
Thank you.

DANIELS
(to the crew)
I'd like to introduce everyone to
their new captain, Captain Richard
Walker.

Even in their exhaustion, they manage a small applause.

RICHARD
As my first orders as Captain... we
will continue to X. There we will
be able to get medical attention
and resupply the ship, recuperate,
and complete our good faith mission
as promised. Also as your Captain,
I will solo the flight to X, and I
order you all to return to your
quarters and rest. We should reach
X by tomorrow morning.

Sawyer helps Jay get to his room followed by Lanet.

Beatrice and Daniels walks behind them.

EXT. NAVAGATIONAL DECK - DAY

Lanet, Sawyer, and Jay head to the left.

DANIELS
See everyone in the morning.

LANET
Good night, Captain.

DANIELS
Remember I'm not the Captain
anymore.

LANET
You will always be the Captain.
See you in the morning.

They walk off, and Beatrice and Daniels walk off to the
right.

DANIELS
I won't be staying long on X. I'll
be arranging for transportation
back to Earth.

Beatrice nods her head as she walks alongside him.

DANIELS (cont'd)
Once I get back to Earth, I'm going
to start an investigation on
Erickson. They will have to
believe me this time.

They continue walking and reach the Captain's quarters.

EXT. CAPTAINS'S QUARTERS - DAY

Daniels stops, and Beatrice keeps walking.

DANIELS
Hey, Beatrice...

She stops and turns around.

DANIELS (cont'd)
I can't than you enough for
everything, and I wanted to know...
uh...

BEATRICE
What?

DANIELS
I wanted to know if you could come
back to Earth. I'd like to try and
get to know you better... you know
away from all of this.

BEATRICE
I'm sorry... I really can't...

DANIELS
That's okay; I understand.

BEATRICE
You didn't let me finish. I'm
going to stay to see the X mission
all the way through, but then I'm
planning on heading back to Earth
for good.

They both stand there and look at each other. Daniels steps
up to her and kissed her on the lips. She kisses him back.
They enjoy their passionate embrace. She moves back away
from him.

BEATRICE (cont'd)
See you in the morning.

DANIELS
You can count on it.

She continues to walk down the hall.

Daniels cracks a smile one of the his first during this whole
mission. He stands in front of his doors, and they open.

He steps in, and the doors slide shut behind him.
