Does anybody recall a 1981 mini series called "Goliath Awaits", not exactly PA, I know, but a story about survivors just the same..

The Goliath was a British Luxury liner that was torpedoed in the opening days of WW2, when she went down, a number of people were trapped in the wreck.

They rigged some technology to supply air and power... Fuelled by a million barrels of oil on board the ship, but, after 40 years, the oil is running out, and the heat transfer system that the crew are working on, doesnt work...

They are found by a naval team, who wish to recover / destry sensative documents from the ship, who are suprised to find people living in the ship... Some of the ships residents arent thrilled to be rescued... some of them have secrets...

I havnt seen this since 81, and I know that I may be recalling it with rose coloured glasses, but I liked it, thought some of you might too....

Not sure if linking commercial items is frowned upon (if it is, please remove the link, and sorry for the inconvenience)..

But I thought these were kind of cool..

I dont know if the "My family" thing is big in other countries, but in Australia, every second idiot has a little white stick figure family on the back window of thier car....

if you absolutely have to have this on your car.... how about a Zombie version..

3000 yen entry fee for show and a pretty basic feed.. about $40. (I think)

and a few DVDs
I finally bought a copy of Quiet Earth and Goodbye Pork Pie (a road movie directed by Geoff Murphy in 1979)... Bruno Lawrence is in it too..

Some of my purchases have arrived today, One of the items I ordered was a book by Frank Herbert called the White Plague.

At least I thought it was a book, it turned out to be a spoken work book cassette.. (My fault, I didnt read the whole description.. but the heading said "The White Plague, Frank Herbert, 1986, Book).. narrated by Bradford Dillman... a name I was not familliar with.. when Escape from the planet of the apes began on TV tonight (they are having a bit of an apes marathon.. Alien/s was last week) who should appear on screen but Bradford Dillman.... an interesting coincidence.

Is this the same guy who wrote "The Rats"? In the 1980's he wrote a whole series of books about mutant rats one of which was after WWIII. All the Rat books books rate four stars in my book. I have to go find out thanks for the head up.

There is a bit of confusion here (as sometimes happens)...James Herbert wrote the books The Fog, The Dark, '48, The Rats, Lair...etc, etc. I lucked into all of his novels in hardcover at a yardsale for $10 in the spring...good reading and re-reading as some of them I had read quite a few years ago. Friggn' bookshelves are gettin' cramped! 8-)

Just puttin' in time waitin' for The Walking Dead...could they shamble any slower, really.
