Thought this looked a bit interesting.

Basically getting a group of people together to rebuild civilization.

We reported on it about a week ago. I think it looks pretty fun myself, but others seem to think it's hardly an authentic PA experience. I'll probably watch the first few episodes to see for myself.

I haven't watched episode 2 yet, but the premier was just ok. The premise is interesting but it suffers from the fundamental flaw that you know they're never in any real danger. The "marauders" who taunt them at night are fake, they are not surrounded by millions of rotting corpses and all that brings with it, and they won't really starve if they can't find the food placed for them when they eventually start "scavenging".

And what really doesn't jive with the backstory is that if it was a plague that wiped everyone out, why are they holed up in an old warehouse trying to make use of old junk? Why don't they walk into the nearest WalMart and just take whatever they need?

So it's basically Survivor meets Junkyard Wars. It's just that the tasks are vaguely oriented toward urban apocalyptic survival.

I saw part of it Sat. and couldn't get into it. Reality shows pick people based on personality conflict The Colony is no exception I got tired of hearing the handy mans wining, wile the engineers where thinking out of the box because he couldn’t understand what they where trying to do. If this where for real people would be to shell shocked after lousing friends and family, to be much use there would be a few who took charge until the others snapped out of it. Personality conflicts wouldn’t arise until later.

One mans view.
You cannot win a bet on the end of the world. You're either wrong and lose your money or you're right and can't collect your winnings.

I've only been able to catch one episode of the show but it wasn't bad. I liked the idea of it but the execution seemed a bit flawed. I would have rather seen a bunch of random people with no clue what they are doing instead of the group on the show. Just normal folks thrown into a chaotic situation.

I saw the first episode, it struck me that everyone seemed to have a useful skill i agree with alan_idaho it would be a lot more interesting to see "normal people" try to deal with the situation as they'd be the ones you probably end up with if you survived yourself.

I like to watch this while I'm doing homework, it is actually pretty interesting if you don't focus on it. When you sit down and just watch the show all the drama starts to feel like any other reality show.
