I hope you arent referring to the Alien Nation Movie with James Caan? That was a pretty good Sci-Fi flik overall, considering it was just a cop buddy flik in disguise. Came out about the same time as Enemy Mine which was just as corny but good too. Who told you it was PA?
Hopefully what you saw and didnt like was the TV series or a remake. The TV series was fairly bad.

Brain fade..... Zombie Nation...

Funny I thought I had fixed that.... I blame the trauma of enduring that movie..

Alien Nation was pretty good. Never saw the series though.

Well, I saw the first episode of Survivors, last night... And I liked it...
Enough of the old, with some interesting new story lines...

Now I want Day of the Triffids :)

In the last few months I've watched the original Survivors and the first season of the new version. I enjoyed both of them. If you ever get the chance to find the Day of the Triffids book on cassette...check it out. 8-)

Yep, the advantage of being 33 1/3 in a Digital world is still owning a cassette deck!

I've read the book that many times, I could probably recite it myself.... I have heard "The Crysalids" on Tape, but I can read faster than someone else can speak... Talking books tend to frustrate me a little, I keep thinking "Hurry up" :)

Just on the New Survivors, when it was first announced on this site, some posters made some ugly comments on The BBC's reverse discrimination,

http://www.quietearth.us/articles/2006/ ... -Survivors

alledgedly loading the cast with minority actors... After being a fan of the original series for so long, it is hard to see anyone but the original cast in their roles. But I like the current series, the actors seem well picked for their parts. By the time this series ends, I am sure I will feel exactly the same way about this bunch as I do about the originals.

For me, the Beeb could use little green men, or big blue women... I wouldnt care as long as I got my serve of quality British Sci Fi. (which may well have the above blue women and green men in the script :) )

Perhaps the claims of reverse discrimination have stayed with me, because it struck me at the end of series one, that most of the truly bad people in the series (so far) IE The Bad (head) Doctor in the under ground lab, The attempted rapists, the bully with the shot gun , the Fagenesqe character and his woman... Are all white.

About the only exception to this is the female government Minister, but she has been portrayed as being forced into a compromise situation. (I am holding out on judging Tom Price, he keeps on threatening to become a team player, but I dont have a good feeling).

As stated, this is merely my observation, I am not a card carrying member of the KKK. I view all races exactly the same way... Potential Zombies.... please feel free to shoot holes in my theory.

When the remake first aired on the BBC in the UK if you read the posts on the BBC site this was a real issue with allot of posters. They thought the BBC was being a little too inclusive and the charge of the BBC being to PC was leveled ( some times agree with). Me the woman who played the government minister looked out of place (She looked a little young to be a cabinet minister). I saw a couple of episodes of Survivor and it just didn’t grab me. The BBC has a habit of coming out like gang busters and just louse steam or go wandering off in weird directions (Primeval), but at least their trying.

You cannot win a bet on the end of the world. You're either wrong and lose your money or you're right and can't collect your winnings.
