Walking Dead? Anyone?

Postby SeeminglySquare » Sat Nov 27, 2010 5:01 pm

Walking Dead has been on for a few weeks now, has anyone else been watching? Love it? Hate it? Meh?

I'm loving it.

It's good adaption from the comic but with enough differences to give it a new slant too. The only thing I can fault is the fact we have only 6 episodes and have to wait for the next season to get a good 12 in.

Best thing on TV by far at the moment and definitely on par with shows like the wire.

What’s surprising me is friends I know who are not normally “Zombie/Horror” people are watching its just good drama. The number of episodes surprised me also I think the number of episodes was AMC hedging their bets in case it didn’t take off.

Yeah I thought that. I don't blame them though. In general people think vampires are cool / sexy because of the violence and sexual energy etc etc - so progammes like true blood kicked off in a big way.

If I was the guys at the top of ABC I would have been a little worried about putting out something with shambling corpses - not particularly sexy - especially when there's been only a few films done really well in this genre. So they've gone and got the drama spot on.

What's more I think the series, even though it's about zombies, has a feeling of realism. As if it could be true. I like this when watching these kind of things.

It's also very well shot - almost feels like a movie I reckon. A damn good 6 hour one - and we haven't even got into the real meat and the really dark bits from the comic...

I love it too! I am missing an episode right now, my iTunes had a meltdown.

I always feel like Zombie movies lack the "after the fact" story line. I know that there have been a handful of movies that addressed this, Land of the Dead. I am excited to see the story between the initial event and having your fortress already set up.

It took a long time for me to realize what I had seen Grimes in before. But Love Actually he was the furthest thing from an American Sheriff.

Loving it too. A couple of the last episodes felt a little slow... but then I realized it's the apocalypse. What's the hurry? No one's got anywhere to go.

I'm curious to see the CDC storyline play out this week. Apparently it's not from the comics... or appears later in the comics or something.

Anyway, it's fucking zombies on TV man. I'm loving it!

Us lucky UK residents have seen Grimes before in a programme called "This life" which is great and a comedy called teachers which is also awsome!

Awesome series! It has me sharpening my axe as I put up CHristmas lights, knowing it will only attract the ghouls. But I don't call 6 episodes a season. I mean, who in the hell calls 6 episodes a season? WTF, AMC? Seriously? That's a tease, but here's the problem with teasing mewith a scant 6 episodes, has there been enough episodes to imprint itself on me that I need to see next season?
Also, I am against running zombies. Totally unrealistic...I mean, okay we're talking about zombies, so why am I arguing for realistic, but still...They call them the "walking dead," not the "running dead," and certainly not the "can climb over a fence dead." If they can do that, then we are totally screwed. Come one, hook a brother up and give me an advantage.

So Zombies breathe? Does it seem weird to anyone else that Zombies can smell? This would indicate to me that they are breathing, or at least something similar to breathing since they are moving air over sensors in their noses. I always assumed that lungs stopped when the heart stopped.

So anyways the breathing dead, your thoughts?

Do you think makes them louder? *wheeze*
