The Tunnels - Aussie horror/thriller

The Australian horror/thriller THE TUNNEL is an absolute gem!

It's something like a mix between Lake Mungo + The Blair Witch Project + Paranormal Activity, in a roundabout sort of way (all of which I enjoyed). The movie didn't try to be overly complex and confusing, and it delivered brilliantly.

There was one scene where the "journalists" interviewed a homeless person, and this scene just didn't work....they writer/director just tried too hard with this scene. Also, they went perhaps a little too far in making the "scary parts" too dark and obscured, but I'm guessing this was done deliberately, so this criticism is purely my opinion only. But apart from that, it was brilliantly crafted, and on a shoe-string budget (or so I'm led to believe). The actor Steve Davis who played the cameraman "Steve" put in a brilliant performance - he was my favourite. For the most part, the scripting and dialog could not have been made more realistic. All the blurry, grey, low key scenery of the streets around Sydney set the tone brilliantly, as did the audio score.

This is one movie that proves quite often "less is more", when it comes to horror/thrillers.

well... i saw this movie, i actually found the homeless scene quite powerfull, very well acted... but well, its up to the beholder, for a "open source" crowd funded movie....it was quite surprising and well made, loved the intro btw...
