... and continued
EXT. SKY ABOVE AN OCEAN – DAY
A yellow dot appears, grows in size and descends at supersonic speed towards us as we look up.
CLOSER
The Birmingham, careering to its demise, pieces tearing away from the spacecraft as it plunges into the sea.
A wall of water rises like a nuclear blast as the spacecraft strikes the ocean.
EXT. DESERT. ARIZONA – DAY - LATER
The EEV – At an angle, semi buried in soft ground. Blackened, scorched... Strobing emergency lights flicker.
An open hatch.
A torn and shredded parachute is fixed across the exit to two metal poles. A slight ripple on its surface in the hot air.
SAGUARO CACTUS
Forked and towering. In front of it: FOUR white stones. Freshly disturbed soil.
At the EEV
The man, at rest sitting against the craft, empty water bottles at his feet. A fresh, blood soaked bandage around his head.
A THUNDERING chugging motor is heard. Dust begins to rise and billow, the man looks up...
A vast grey military helicopter falls like a settling metal bug to the ground, men in military attire, heavily armed peel out of the aircraft, surround the man.
INT. HELICOPTER
A medical orderly applies a fresh dressing to the mans wound.
The commanding officer moves to him. The other personnel keep their weapons trained on him.
OFFICER
I’ve been commanded to arrest you
and bring you to a place of detention.
To determine the degree of offence and violation you are suspected of.
Do you understand?
The man listens in mute resignation.
OFFICER (Continued)
Do you have any religious, dietary,
or medical needs?
The man shakes his head and stares ahead... The officer notes the blood smeared name tag stitched on the man’s jacket: ‘LOFGREN.’
OFFICER. (Continued)
Lofgren? Gotta nationality?
MAN (LOFGREN)
American. Mars Col 2. S’on my ID
Lofgren shows a green coloured Bar-Code tattoo on his left arm.
A Soldier scans it with a laser reader.
SOLDIER
Checks out here LT.
EXT. HELICOPTER
The aircraft ascends – far into the cooling, darkening sky...
SAGUARO CACTUS
Dust swirls and falls over the four white stones...
From the EEV – Helicopter rising, headed away...
The desert returns to hot, empty, soundless wasteland.
EXT. HELICOPTER – OVER SEA – NIGHT
Sun dying in a red wash of brilliance as grey storm clouds well up. Below us – White tipped waves rise and roll...
EXT. PRISON COMPLEX – NIGHT
Low drab concrete buildings – Razor wire topped fences.
The helicopter descends beyond a series of fences within fences...
Far off; a low growl of thunder and distant blink of lightening...
INT. INTERROGATION ROOM – NIGHT
Dull lights. A red stripe runs around the middle of the walls.
One high window. Exterior light shine through it. Set in boxes: CCTV cameras covering the room.
Three chairs and a metal table. Wide one way mirror set in wall.
Echoes of distant feet and far off doors, ...chill sounds of isolation.
INT. CELL – NIGHT
Lofgren on his bed. His face almost covered in bandages.
We have yet to see his FULL FACE... His eyes pierce the shroud that secretes him.
Looking at the ceiling – lost far adrift in his thoughts.
... more to come
Don't give me any of that intelligent life crap, just give me something I can blow up
